Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Djikine Records Fourth Double Double in Loss to Patriots

SAN ANTONIO – In their final home game of the season, the St. Mary's Men's Basketball team dropped a pivotal Lone Star Conference contest, 60-46 to UT Tyler at Bill Greehey Arena.

The Rattlers were plagued by turnovers as they committed 21, the fourth time this season with 20 or more. The Patriots were able to score 28 points off of turnovers.

Mamady Djikine recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Djikine opened the game with a fast break dunk to give the Rattlers the first score of the game. Luke Schultz converted one-of-two free throws followed by a jumper from Caleb Jordan, extending the early St. Mary's lead to 5-0.

Offense was slow-going for both teams for most of the first half. At the midway point of the half, the game was deadlocked at 13. The Patriots outscored the Rattlers 16-10 over the final 10 minutes of the half to take a 29-23 lead into the locker room.

The Rattlers evened the game at 33 when Jaron Presley knocked down a three in transition with just under 15 minutes left.

St. Mary's offense could not get going in the final 15 and the Patriots converted five of their final seven field goal attempts to put the game out of reach.

The Rattlers have a busy week ahead as they travel to St. Edward's on Wednesday and Oklahoma Christian on Friday and Saturday.
