SAN ANTONIO – A cold night in San Antonio did not slow down the St. Mary's Men's Soccer team as they defeated Our Lady of the Lake University, 1-0 in the first regular season match of the year.
St. Mary's dominated possession, taking 15 shots, six of which were on frame. The Rattlers took 10 corner kicks to the Saints' one.
Alonso Rodriguez netted his first goal as a Rattler in the 83
rd minute when he took a
Bailey Crombie swinging cross and headed it off the far post and into the back of the net for the game-winner.
Just a minute later, the Saints netted what appeared to be the equalizer but the goal was waved off for an offside call.
The Rattlers will have a long break before they begin Lone Star Conference action on February 23 against DBU at Sigma Beta Chi Field. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
