Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

St. Mary's Wins Seventh Straight, 2-0, Over Oklahoma Christian

THE RECAP
The St. Mary's Rattlers extended their winning streak to seven games after shutting out Oklahoma Christian, 2-0. St. Mary's (11-3, 4-0) sits atop the LSC standings after their fourth straight conference victory.

Although the first half was uneventful and dominated by defensive stands, the Rattlers scored twice in the final 45-minutes to hand the Eagles another road loss. Alonso Rodriguez started the scoring in the 53rd minute, burying his fifth goal of the season in the back of the net. Alonso is now tied for the team lead.

While the Rattlers didn't need the insurance, they would get it anyway off the foot of Edu Bonatto, who scored his first goal of the season.

With the win, the Rattlers extend their winning streak over Oklahoma Christian to three games. They have not dropped a contest to the Eagles since 2012.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- The Rattlers outshot OC 19-7 and spent over 70% of the time in possession of the ball.
- The Rattlers monopolized the corner kicks, earning all eight taken during the game.
- Both StMU goals were aided by double-assists for the first time this season.

HEAD COACH JOHNNY CLIFFORD ON TONIGHT'S GAME
"I thought we played well. We've been talking all week about playing our style of football and controlling possession. We improved on that today and really dominated possession. We created chances early and often. We could have been more clinical, especially in the first half, but the guys played well and I'm proud of them."

UP NEXT
The Rattlers head to Midwestern State to battle for supremacy in the Lone Star Conference. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
