Rattlers Score Three to Earn Conference Opening Win Over DBU

THE RECAP
The Rattlers extended their winning streak to four after toppling the Patriots, 3-2, in Dallas. St. Mary's (8-3, 1-0) secured a hard-fought win in their conference opener against a Patriots' side who marshaled an impressive comeback late.

St. Mary's controlled the first half, outshooting DBU 14-9. The Rattlers jumped on the scoreboard three times, striking first in the 28th minute when Alonso Rodriguez made it 1-0. Youssef Mouaddib and Liam Morrison also added goals of their own before the intermission.

In the second half, however, the Patriots stormed back. Two late goals in the 63rd and 80th minutes, respectively, made it a game, but the Rattlers held on to clinch a huge LSC win.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- The Rattlers registered 23 shots and seven shots on goal in the offensive outburst.
- StMU also led the way with corner kicks, tallying nine to DBU's four.
- The Rattlers extend their all-time series lead over DBU to 27-7.

HEAD COACH JOHNNY CLIFFORD ON THE ROAD TRIP
"It was a good win, but definitely a tale of two halves. I think in the first half, we were really clinical and dominated time of possession, but gave away too many chances in the second. DBU is really well coached and they work really hard. When you give teams like that a chance, you're always taking a risk. Still, we are happy to get a win on the road and now we are focused on Saturday."

UP NEXT
The Rattlers return home for their Lone Star Conference home opener against UT-Permian Basin. Kickoff is scheduled for 5pm.
