SAN ANTONIO – The
Kevin Driggs era began today for the St. Mary's Women's Soccer program as Coach Driggs made his debut after being named the fifth head coach in program history in the spring of 2020.
The Rattlers welcome Our Lady of the Lake to Sigma Beta Chi Field for the 2021 spring opener.
Kylie Von Holle paced the Rattler attack this afternoon as the junior from Midland, Texas took three shots, all on net.
In the first half, the Rattlers had what looked to be a chance to score the first goal of the game as Von Holle lined up for a penalty kick. The referees got together to discuss the play and determined St. Mary's was offside.
Our Lady of the Lake controlled the first half, taking seven shots, five of which found the net but St. Mary's keeper,
Cameron Koerner was sharp in the first 45 minutes, making saves on all five of the Saints' chances.
OLLU's Yolanda Vazquez put the Saints up 1-0 in the 61st minute.
St. Mary's attack saw a few opportunities in the final 30 minutes of the contest but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Rattlers will travel to UTSA on Thursday to take on the Roadrunners at 7 p.m.
