SAN ANGELO, Texas — Despite a 35-31 lead at halftime, St. Mary's Men's Basketball (9-10, 5-8 LSC) gave up 49 points in the second half and was unable to recover, falling 80-73 on the road at Angelo State (12-4, 8-4 LSC) on Saturday.
Junior
Kobe Magee led the team with 19 points and hit a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the game, but it wasn't enough to catch back up to the Rams. Sophomore
Caleb Jordan followed Magee with 16 points, while senior
Markques Houston had 12 points and seven rebounds.
Dylan Isenhower led the team in rebounds with eight, and also contributed eight points.
The Rattlers made three 3-pointers early to jump out to a 19-6 lead in the first half. They were able to maintain a double-digit lead until the final five minutes of the period, when the Rams went on an 11-2 run, and brought it within four, 35-31 at the half.Â
Angelo State came out of the gates strong in the second half, and took its first lead, 40-39, with 14:41 remaining in the game. The Rattlers came back with a three from Houston and quick layup from Magee to regain a five-point lead, 46-41, but the Rams continued to battle back and took the lead for good, 47-46, with 11:58 remaining. Magee caught fire late and hit three 3-pointers in the final 2:20 of the game, but it wasn't enough to bring the Rattlers back.
