Women's Tennis maintained perfection in the Heartland, defeating conference opponent Arkansas Fort Smith 4-1 at the Arlington Tennis Center on Friday.
The Lady Rattlers had a slow start to the match against the Lions. At the No. 3 doubles position, Hannah Petersen and Ashely Penshorn fell 6-3 to Joanna Potet and Chloe Ruppanner. Senior/junior duo Rani Goodland and Bella Bergman swept their opponents 6-0, not dropping a game at the No. 2 position. The final point came down to the top court. Alex Corder and Ally Maciel had a close match, unfortunately the senior pair dropped the clinch 6-4.
The Rattlers responded well after dropping the doubles point in singles play, not losing a match. Freshman Ashley Penshorn was quick to get off the court, defeating her opposition 6-0 6-0 at the No. 6 spot. Following this win, seniors Alex Corder and Hannah Petersen at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions swept their opponents in straight sets 6-2 6-1 and 6-4 6-1.
On the top court, senior Ally Maciel clinched the win for the Lady Rattlers against opponent Bianca Koen 6-1 6-4.
