ARLINGTON, Texas - St. Mary's Women's Tennis snatched another conference win after defeating the Newman Jets 4-1, allowing them to reach a perfect 3-0 record in the Heartland as of Friday.
The Blue and Gold started off strong in the doubles competition, claiming their first win on the No. 3 court of freshmen Ashley Penshorn and senior Hannah Petersen, winning the match 6-2. On court No. 2, senior Rani Goodland and junior Bella Bergman dominated their opponents Young and Bifano 6-0 to get the clinch for the Rattlers, giving them a 1-0 lead against the Jets. The
St. Mary's women's tennis continued their strong performance in singles, with freshmen Penshorn and junior Bergman sweeping their opponents in straight sets 6-2 6-1 and 6-3 6-0. At the No. 4 position, Goodland fell 6-4, 6-0.
With the Rattlers at a 3-1 lead, senior Alex Corder obtained the clinch for the Lady Rattlers 6-0 6-1, winning against Newman University with an overall score of 4-1.
