SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Women's Tennis (9-5) opened Heartland Conference action with a 4-0 victory over Dallas Baptist University at Anne-Marie Tennis Center on Saturday.
"This was such a great team win to start conference," said Head Coach Lisa Dausin. "I'm proud of the tone we set in doubles and just carried it through to singles."
The Rattlers picked up the doubles point with wins on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts from senior duo Ally Maciel/Alex Corder winning 6-2 and freshman Ashley Penshorn/senior Hannah Petersen sweeping their opponents 6-4 in a close battle to clinch the doubles points. Senior Rani Goodland and Junior Bella Bergman finished the match winning 7-5 at court No. 2.
In singles action, the Rattlers posted three two-set victories. Junior Bella Bergman was first off of the court, defeating her opponent Ira Vogelmann 6-1 6-0 at the No. 5 position. On the top court, senior Ally Maciel swept her opponent 6-4 6-1. On court No. 3, senior Hannah Petersen clinched the match for the Blue and Gold, winning 6-4 6-1 to give the Lady Rattlers a 4-0 sweep against Dallas Baptist University.
Up next, the Rattlers are set to play in Dallas on Friday, April 5Â against Arkansas Fort Smith, and Saturday, April 6 against Newman.
