SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Baseball rode a big fourth inning and some timely pitching out of the bullpen to defeat Lubbock Christian 10-7 in Saturday's series finale at Dickson Stadium.

Trailing 7-5 in the fifth inning, St. Mary's scored four runs to take a 9-7 lead it would not relinquish to avenge two earlier losses in the series.

Tyler Dick picked up his second win of the season for the Rattlers, pitching 5 2/3 scoreless innings in relief. He scattered eight hits, but struck out five, walked one and didn't allow a run among the 26 batters he faced.

Colton Parrish jump-started the big fifth inning with a two-RBI double to right field that brought in Scott Short and Mario Vela. Steven Wynn then scored his second run of the game on a wild sequence following a dropped third strike in a strikeout of Ryan McGowen. Moments later, Jake Mares singled through the left side to drive in Parrish as the Rattlers jumped ahead 9-7.

Seven Rattlers accounted for the team's 12 hits in the game, led by Andrew Perez's three. Perez was 3 for 5 with three RBI a day after he saw his 14-game hit streak snapped against the Chaps. Perez added a run scored in the game as St. Mary's improved to 10-8 on the season.

McGowen, Vela and Short all recorded two hits in the contest.

With the victory, St. Mary's improved to 7-6 at Dickson Stadium this season.

The Rattlers will conclude their 11-game homestand with a nonconference affair against Our Lady of the Lake on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
