Women's Tennis continues play today against Angelo State

Rattlers opened up spring season with 7-0 victory over LCC

SAN ANTONIO – The Women's Tennis season continues Thursday in New Braunfels, as the Rattlers will take on Angelo State at 3 p.m. at the John Newcombe Country Club.

The match comes a week after St. Mary's Women's Tennis opened the spring season by thumping Laredo Community College, sweeping the LCC Palominos by a score of 7-0. 

"The girls focused and played well even though it was cold, windy and with adverse conditions outside," said Graduate Assistant Coach Kaylin Kruseman.

The Rattlers started off by securing the doubles point with senior Ally Maciel and junior Bella Bergman defeating their opponents 6-1, while senior Hannah Petersen and freshman Ashley Penshorn defeated their opponents 6-1. 
 
The Gold and Blue continued the sweep with a dominant display in singles competition. At the No. 1 position, senior Alex Corder won in two sets (6-1, 6-2). Freshmen Ashley Penshorn, Alice Thane and Idoia Huerta made their debut by winning in straight sets at positions No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
