Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls Short Against Regis

GOLDEN, Colo. – After an overtime win to open their season last night, the St. Mary's University Men's Basketball team fell to Regis University on Saturday evening by a score of 84-71. The Rattlers have now lost the last four meetings against the Rangers.

Caleb Jordan was impressive for the second straight night as he poured in a game-high 23 points.

The opening half was a tight one as neither team led by more than six points but it was the Rangers who took a lead into the locker room as they converted a pair of free throws with four seconds left in the half to go ahead by a point, 40-39.

A steal from Curtlon Wesley early in the second half resulted in a dunk by Emmanuel Ewuzie to give the Rattlers a 41-40 advantage. An 8-0 Regis run put St. Mary's behind seven points but the Rattlers answered with a 9-2 run of their own to even the game at 50 with 14:43 to play.

After team minutes of trading baskets, the Rattlers offense went cold over the final 4:36 as Regis went on a 17-4 run to close out the game.

Markques Houston finished with 20 points while Ewuzie pulled down a game-high 10 points to go with seven points.

Up next for the Rattlers is Southern Nazarene University on Friday, November 15.
