GOLDEN, Colo. – After an overtime win to open their season last night, the St. Mary's University Men's Basketball team fell to Regis University on Saturday evening by a score of 84-71. The Rattlers have now lost the last four meetings against the Rangers.
Caleb Jordan was impressive for the second straight night as he poured in a game-high 23 points.
The opening half was a tight one as neither team led by more than six points but it was the Rangers who took a lead into the locker room as they converted a pair of free throws with four seconds left in the half to go ahead by a point, 40-39.
A steal from
Curtlon Wesley early in the second half resulted in a dunk by
Emmanuel Ewuzie to give the Rattlers a 41-40 advantage. An 8-0 Regis run put St. Mary's behind seven points but the Rattlers answered with a 9-2 run of their own to even the game at 50 with 14:43 to play.
After team minutes of trading baskets, the Rattlers offense went cold over the final 4:36 as Regis went on a 17-4 run to close out the game.
Markques Houston finished with 20 points while Ewuzie pulled down a game-high 10 points to go with seven points.
