SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Women's Soccer honored its senior student-athletes on the team Saturday and came away with a 3-1 win over Eastern New Mexico, thanks to goals from seniors
Alexia Maldonado and
Lauren Mlouhi, along with sophomore
Kylie Von Holle.
The Greyhounds were the first to strike on a penalty in the 7th minute, but an opportunistic lob pass from Mlouhi to Maldonado allowed the Rattlers' leading goalscorer to get a touch with her head and then find the back of the net as she fell to the ground in the 25th minute. 10 minutes later, Von Holle capitalized on a penalty for the Rattlers to take a 2-1 lead just before the half.
Less than two minutes into the second half, the Rattlers were given another penalty kick, this time converted by the senior Mlouhi to give her a goal and an assist on the special day. Goalkeepers
Erin Longford and
Cameron Koerner each had two saves to hold the Greyhounds to the single goal, and senior defender
Olivia Bachelet was named Pizza Patrón Player of the Game for her efforts on the back line.
The Rattlers travel to Texas A&M-Commerce and UT-Tyler next week as they look to tack on some more Lone Star Conference wins.
