Men's Soccer Defeats Eagles for Seventh Straight Win

OKLAHOMA CITY – Make it seven in a row for the 16th-ranked St. Mary's University Men's Soccer team as they downed Oklahoma Christian University on a cold, soggy Thursday night in Oklahoma City. The Rattlers got goals from four different players on their way to a 4-1 victory over the Eagles.

Ollie Wright got things going for the Rattlers as he netted his fourth goal in as many games in the 30th minute on an assist from Carlos Blasco to give St. Mary's the early 1-0 advantage.

Oklahoma Christian scored the equalizer just two minutes later as Vinicius Alvez found the back of the net for the Eagles' lone goal of the night.

The St. Mary's attack dominated the first half as they put seven shots on goal and allowed the Eagles to find the frame just two times.

At the 37-minute mark, Nenad Markovic put the Rattlers in front for good as he scored his third goal of the year. Martin Ibarreche added another goal before the break to extend the Rattlers lead to two goals.

The second half was quiet as the St. Mary's defense kept the Eagles attack in check, allowing just one shot on goal.

Blasco picked up his second assist of the match in the 80th minute as Edu Toiny-Pendred buried his fifth goal of the year to put the game completely out of reach. Toiny-Pendred has scored four goals in his last three matches.

The Rattlers move to 10-2-1 overall on the year and 5-1-0 in Lone Star Conference action.

St. Mary's will return to the pitch on Saturday for a top-25 showdown with No. 5 Midwestern State University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
