SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Men's Soccer got a game-winner from
Carlos Blasco in the 110th minute to take down No. 5 Midwestern State 3-2 on Saturday, extending their win streak to eight matches.
The Rattlers had an early 2-0 lead after goals by
Nenad Markovic in the 10th minute and
Ollie Wright in the 20th minute on a penalty kick. MSU came back to tie the match up at 2-2 with goals in the 32nd and 60th minutes. With the game still in a deadlock after 90 minutes, the two teams went to a first and then a second overtime period before Blasco got the golden goal, his second score on the season.
St. Mary's had never beaten MSU before this season, and now has two wins over the Lone Star Conference foe this season. The Rattlers enter next week on an eight-game win streak with home matches against UT-Permian Basin on October 31st and Lubbock Christian on November 2nd.
