Here comes the Payne: KK, Rattlers rise past Greyhounds

SAN ANTONIO — KK Payne led St. Mary's with 13 kills in a 3-0 victory over Eastern New Mexico on Friday at Bill Greehey Arena.
 
Payne and the Rattlers bounced back from a loss to LCU on Thursday night with a strong team performance that saw St. Mary's lead in kills and hitting percentage.
 
Alissa Tolbert added eight kills while Bree Perry logged 25 assists and two service aces. Monica Ramon collected 16 digs with Perry and Payne adding seven apiece.
 
After taking the first two sets, the Rattlers sought to finish the match strong, jumping out to a 6-1 lead. Withstanding a late surge from the Greyhounds, the Rattlers closed the door on the match, taking the third set 25-22.
 
The Rattlers will face Newman next week on the road when conference play resumes.
