@StMUvolleyball opens conference play with sweep of Dustdevils

SAN ANTONIO — After three weeks on the road, St. Mary's Volleyball returned home to Bill Greehey Arena, defeating Texas A&M International, 3-0, in the first Heartland Conference match of the season.
 
St. Mary's (6-9, 1-0) faced a tough challenge in the opening set. Trailing 23-21, the Rattlers outscored the Dustdevils 7-3 to take the opening frame, setting the tone for the rest of the match.
 
KK Payne led the Rattlers with 12 kills while Channing Hankins and Mackenzie Harless posted seven kills apiece. Jaycie Pluenneke added five kills and three blocks on a .571 hitting percentage.
 
Bree Perry added 28 assists while Monica Ramon added a team-high nine digs.
 
St. Mary's will return to the court on Thursday when it hosts Lubbock Christian at 7 p.m.
