@StMUmsoccer fall to #1 Mustangs in showdown of nationally ranked teams

WICHITA FALLS, Texas — In a battle of two nationally ranked teams, No. 11 St. Mary's fell on the road to No. 1-ranked MSU Texas, 3-1, on Thursday night.
 
Following an hour-long rain delay, the two teams took to the pitch with each of their unblemished records on the line.
 
A penalty kick goal from Nenad Markovic in the 57th minute trimmed the Mustang lead in half. The goal was his fourth of the season, extending his goal scoring streak to three matches.
 
In the 78th minute, Guiherme Leme put the match out of reach, doubling the Mustang lead with his second goal of the night.
 
Luis Sanchez and Martin Ibarreche each logged a shot on goal while Gerard Roebuck collected 10 saves in goal.
 
On Saturday, the Rattlers will visit Oklahoma Christian at 1 p.m. to wrap up its brief two-match roadtrip.
