Rattlers leave Dallas with win over Jets

DALLAS — St. Mary's defeated Newman in straight-sets on Saturday, concluding the weekend tournament with a 1-2 record.
 
Senior Channing Hankins led the Rattlers with 14 kills and a block as fellow senior Amanda Lake posted a team-high 17 digs and junior Bree Perry logged 37 assists.
 
After cruising to a 25-17 win in Set 1, the Rattlers held off a late rally by the Jets in the second set with Julia Deais recording the decisive kill.
 
The decisive final set ended in a 25-13 route as the Rattlers ended the match with a .371 team hitting percentage.
 
Up next will be a road match against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
