Second-half rally propels Rattlers on opening night

DENVER — Two goals in the second half propelled St. Mary's to a 2-1 victory over Metro State on opening night of the 2018 season.
 
Trailing by a goal after the 26th minute, Marlon Flores put the Rattlers on the board in the 64th minute off an assist by Martin Ibarreche.
 
Less than 15 minutes later, the Rattlers' Preseason All-Conference selection, Pato Botello Faz, delivered the game-winning goal off an assist by Luis Aranada.
 
Botello posted a match-high six shots with five on frame as Nenad Markovic added three shots, placing one on goal.
 
After allowing the go-ahead goal in the first half, the Rattler defense held strong, denying the Roadrunners another shot on goal for the rest of the match.
 
St. Mary's will conclude its trip to Colorado with a match against No. 8 Colorado Mines on Sunday.
