Rattlers advance to Heartland Championship final

ARLINGTON, Texas — No. 2 seed St. Mary's took care of business against No. 3-seeded Newman in Friday's semifinals of the Heartland Conference Men's Tennis Championship.
 
The 5-0 victory sets the stage for Saturday's championship match, where the Rattlers will attempt to claim their second straight tournament title.
 
St. Mary's will face St. Edward's in the final. The start time has been pushed back to 2 p.m. and moved to the campus of TCU because of weather in the Arlington area.
 
Here is the breakdown of Friday's semifinal:
 
In singles:
1. Jeremiah Gonzalez (STMU) vs. Lauri Soome (NU) 6-7 (5-7), 4-1, unfinished
2. Bojan Popovic (STMU) vs. Lucas Norbiato (NU) 7-6 (9-7), 4-4, unfinished
