@StMUsoftball completes trifecta of walk-off victories over LCU

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's remains perfect in conference play following another walk-off victory over Lubbock Christian on Saturday.
 
An Alessandra Ortiz RBI double in the bottom of the eighth secured a 5-4 win for the Rattlers who push their win-streak to 12 games.
 
Ortiz, along with Hannah Michel each finished with a pair of hits, with both going 2-for-4 at the plate.
 
After conceding a home run in the top of the first inning, Raynelle Nash deposited an RBI double to left center field. Brenda Iparraguirre would follow suit in the next at-bat, giving the Rattlers a 2-1 edge.
 
Two more runs an inning later gave the Rattlers a 4-1 lead. But LCU would rally, scoring three unanswered runs starting the fifth inning, setting the stage for the walk-off in extras.
 
Picking up her first career victory in the circle, Alex McLennan tossed three scoreless innings in relief. Fellow freshman Alex Moreno provided a lift defensively as she recorded a double play in the top of the eighth to halt a potential Lady Chap run.
 
On Monday, the Rattlers will host regional powerhouse Angelo State with a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
