Soteria Banks scored a team-high 19 points Saturday, while Arysia Porter added 18 to help power the Rattlers (15-12, 9-5 in Heartland Conference) to their fifth straight win.Â
The Rattlers' victory in their regular-season finale secured the No. 3 seed in next week's Heartland Conference Championship tournament, which is set to get underway Thursday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.Â
Marquez and fellow senior Tia Mason produced team highs in rebounding with eight apiece. Mason added six points after getting the Senior Day start, going a flawless 2 for 2 from the floor and 2 for 2 from the charity stripe.Â
St. Mary's jumped to an 18-10 first-quarter lead, but saw a stingy Dustdevil squad hang around after entering the break with the Rattlers leading 34-28.Â
The Rattlers raised their play on both ends of the floor in the second half, limiting TAMIU to 39.39 percent shooting from the floor while increasing their own shooting efforts from the first half to 45 percent.Â
