MSU Texas snaps No. 18 Rattlers' 7-game win streak

WICHITA FALLS, Texas — No. 18 St. Mary's Women's Basketball shot just 23.3 percent from the floor as MSU Texas upset the Rattlers 51-35 in non-conference play on Saturday.
 
Soteria Banks and Kaitlin Walla led a Rattler offense that never got going with eight points apiece, while Hannah Wilson posted a team-high nine rebounds. The loss snapped the red-hot Rattlers' seven-game winning streak.
 
The Mustangs outscored the Rattlers (8-2) by eight points in the second quarter to take a 23-16 lead into the break. After an even fourth quarter, MSU Texas put the game away in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Snakes 14-5 in the final frame.
 
St. Mary's has had great success from 3-point range this season, but not against the Mustangs, who limited the Rattlers to 3 of 16 from beyond the arc. MSU Texas also held St. Mary's to matching 7-of-30 shooting clips from the floor in both halves.
 
The Rattlers will return to action at home Tuesday when they host Cameron at 5:30 p.m. Children are invited to come take a photo with Santa Claus during the game. Kids will receive a free digital photo, hot chocolate and a collector cup if they stay for the game.
