Volleyball outdueled in first match of road trip

CANYON, Texas — Despite 10 kill performances from Channing Hankins and Alissa Tolbert, St. Mary's fell to West Texas A&M 3-0 in a non-conference meeting on Friday night.
 
After dropping the first set 25-22, the Rattlers couldn't overcome the Lady Buffs who entered the contest winners of their last five matches at home.
 
Hankins finished the match with a .286 hitting percentage while Bree Perry led the Rattlers with 19 assists.
 
Defensively, Monica Ramon led the charge with 15 digs while a trio of Rattlers, Jaycie Pluenneke, Rachel McDonald and Mackenzie Harless each tallied three blocks.
 
Tomorrow, the Rattlers will resume conference play against conference-leading Lubbock Christian in an important contest that could determine the No. 1 seed in the Heartland Conference entering the postseason.
