Rattlers push win streak to three with win over Dustdevils

LAREDO, Texas — St. Mary's collected its third-straight victory on Tuesday, defeating Texas A&M International in straight sets.
 
Led by Alissa Tolbert's eight kills and team-high 13 digs, along with 14 assists apiece from Bree Perry and Haley Bradfute, the Rattlers moved to within a half game of first place in the Heartland Conference standings.
 
In the opening set, trailing 12-10, the Rattlers responded with an 8-0 run on Pluenneke's serve. They would outscore the Dustdevils 15-4 to take the game 25-16.
 
Winning the second set by the same score, the Rattlers faced an early surge from the Dustdevils in the decisive third game. Nursing a two-point lead late, the Rattlers would finish the match on a 4-1 run.
 
The Rattlers found great success in the service game, recording 11 aces as a team with Jaycie Pluenneke, Amanda Lake, Tolbert and Bradfute each recording multiple services aces.
 
Channing Hankins logged a match-high nine kills on a .286 hitting percentage while Julia Deais added six kills.
 
Friday, the Rattlers will head to Canyon, Texas to face West Texas A&M in a non conference match.
