@StMUvolleyball victorious on Senior Day

SAN ANTONIO — A monster game from Alissa Tolbert led St. Mary's to a 3-1 victory over Newman on Saturday afternoon.
 
On an afternoon where the Rattlers honored seniors Monica Ramon, Jaycie Pluenneke, Amanda Lake and Channing Hankins, it was the freshman Tolbert that sparked the home team with 20 kills, 21 digs, five service aces and one block.
 
The seniors came to play as well with Pluenneke adding three blocks, Hankins posting eight kills and a .259 hitting percentage, Ramon logging 15 digs and six assists and Lake with 14 digs.
 
Cruising to victory in the opening set, 25-7, the Rattlers held a 2-0 lead entering the third frame. The Jets bounced back, forcing a fourth set which ended with the rattlers picking up their second victory of the week.
 
St. Mary's will close out the season with five games on the road, beginning with Texas A&M International on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
