Women's Tennis impresses at St. Mary's Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — The Lady Rattlers competed in the St. Mary's Invitational over the weekend at Rohrbach Stadium Tennis Complex, picking up right where they left off.

Rani Goodland got three singles wins under her belt, winning her first match with ease 6-0, 6-1, and her second match 6-4, 6-3. She finished off the day with a 7-6, 6-3 victory.

Hannah Petersen also clinched three matches, finding her stride in her first match 7-6, 6-1, before coming back from a set down in her second match 2-6, 6-0, (4). She was leading 7-5, 1-0 when her opponent retired in her third match.

Kaylin Kruseman fought out two three-set matches. In her first, she managed to overcome her opponent pulling out a 7-6, 5-7, (6) triumph. In her second match, Kruseman bounced back from a set down to win 4-6, 6-2, (5).

Paulina Torres battled out a three-set victory, overpowering her opponent 6-1, 5-7, (5). Abigail Csengery, Tyra Timm and Alex Corder also raked up some wins. Csengery prevailed 6-3, 6-4; Timm found her rhythm and won 6-3, 6-0; and Corder dominated her opponent 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles, Csengery and Goodland commanded two victories, 8-1 and 8-6. Torres and Petersen managed to overwhelm their opposition for a 9-7 score. Kruseman and Timm powered through to win 8-6, and Maciel and Corder defeated their opponents 8-3.
