No. 16 Colorado Mesa ends Rattlers’ unbeaten streak

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado — In a battle of unbeaten teams, the St. Mary's Rattlers fell to No. 16 Colorado Mesa, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.
 
CMU jumped out to an early 2-0 entering intermission. In the 64th minute, Nenad Markovic netted his first goal as a Rattler off a free kick, bringing the Snakes to within one.
 
Colorado Mesa would put the match out of reach with a goal in the 76th minute.
 
Tommy Fogarty-Cameron and Pato Botello Faz tallied a pair of shots apiece as the Rattlers were outshot 14-7, bringing them to a 2-1-1 record this season.
 
St. Mary's will begin Heartland Conference play the next time it steps on the pitch in Dallas against DBU on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
 
The loss brings the Rattlers to a 2-1-1 record on the young season.
