Baseball drops season finale, sets sights on Heartland Tournament

SAN ANTONIO — Dickson Stadium was the scene for the St. Mary's Rattlers' regular season finale on Saturday afternoon as they fell to the UA Fort Smith Lions by a final of 12-5.
 
In his final game at home, senior Bryan Ramirez provided the Rattlers with a spark at the plate going 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
 
The Rattlers trailed early, conceding a two-run first inning to the Lions before responding with two runs of their own. Ramirez would single in the fifth to give the Rattlers a 3-2 lead.
 
UA Fort Smith would put the game away for good with a six-run sixth inning as it would complete its three-game sweep of the Rattlers.
 
Senior Jack Kaiser posted a 1-for-4 game with two RBI as catcher Beau Barnes posted a base hit as well.
 
St. Mary's will now head to the Heartland Conference Tournament next weekend in Cleburne, Texas.
