Women's Tennis tops UAFS, 7-2

DALLAS — St. Mary's Women's Tennis improved to 3-0 in Heartland Conference play with Saturday's 7-2 victory over UAFS.

The 12th-ranked Rattlers (14-2 overall) got off to a good start, taking a 2-1 lead after doubles. No. 1 Kaylin Kruseman/Tyra Timm edged Lindsy Pearce/Brittaney McCasin 9-7, while No. 2 Hannah Petersen/Ally Maciel won their match 8-5. 

In singles, the Rattlers took five of the six matches, with all but one of the victory coming in straight sets. Camille Clausse-Pujo won at No. 1, 6-2, 6-1, and Kaylin Kruseman cruised at No. 2, 6-3, 6-3. 

Petersen outlasted Andrea Stapper in No. 4 action, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. Sarinana and Ravula also won at No. 5 and 6, winning 6-1, 7-6 (5), and 6-3, 6-4, respectively.

The Rattlers will wrap up conference action against St. Edward's at 1 p.m. Thursday. The match will also serve as Senior Day for the men's and women's teams.
