Rattlers rebound in finale against Jets

SAN ANTONIO — The Park at St. Mary's was the sight of Saturday afternoon's Strikeout Cancer Game between St. Mary's and Newman.
 
Following a disappointing start to the weekend, the St. Mary's Rattlers bounced back with a ## win over the Newman Jets on Saturday afternoon at The Park at St. Mary's.
 
The No. 5 Rattlers snap a two game skid at the hands of the Jets behind a strong performance from the Rattler pitching staff as Kristi Rangel, Jorden Russell and Ashley Mills combined for the victory as they allowed only one run on five hits.
 
After conceding a run in the top of the first, the Rattlers responded in the bottom of the frame with a two-run inning that was sparked by an RBI double from Marcela Vasquez. She would score in the next at-bat courtesy of a Brenda Iparraguirre RBI single.
 
St. Mary's improves to 32-9 on the season as it heads back on the road for an eight-game road trip beginning on April 12 against Texas A&M International.
