Women's Tennis shuts out Newman

DALLAS — St. Mary's Women's Tennis white-washed Newman on Friday, winning 9-0 in Heartland Conference action at LB Houston. 

Starting the weekend off right, the 12th-ranked Lady Rattlers got straight down to business in doubles with No. 3 Mariela Sarinana and Camille Clausse-Pujo stealing the first win of the day, 8-1. They were followed by No. 1 Kaylin Kruseman and Tyra Timm, who dominated 8-2 with No. 2 Ally Maciel and Hannah Petersen hot on their tail, winning 8-4 for the doubles sweep. 

With a 3-0 lead into singles, the Lady Rattlers kept the momentum going with No.6 Sindhu Ravula catching the first singles win of the day with a quick 6-0, 6-0 victory. She was followed shortly by Sarinana, who found her stride in the second set winning 6-4, 6-1. No. 2 Kruseman and No. 1 Clausse-Pujo finished right behind her, as both prevailed 6-1,6-2. 

No. 4 Petersen picked up the final point, clawing her way to victory at 6-4, 7-5. 

The Lady Rattlers will be back in action again Saturday in Dallas as they face University of Arkansas–Fort Smith.
