TAMIU steals one in the 9th as Rattlers drop series

By Chad Peters | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

SAN ANTONIO — Beau Barnes' go-ahead RBI in the bottom of the eighth inning wasn't enough for St. Mary's Baseball on Friday, as Texas A&M International stormed back with two runs in the top of the ninth to win 5-4 at Dickson Stadium.

A solo home run tied it up for the Dustdevils, and a bunt drove in what proved to be the winning run as TAMIU took the series, 2-1.

Donnie Perez was 3 for 3 with an RBI and run scored in the game, while Barnes finished with two RBI. Bryan Ramirez went 3 for 4 and Jacob Aguilar was 2 for 4 with a run scored.

Hayden Hibler pitched a solid no-decision in the start, lasting six innings with three strikeouts and two earned runs allowed. Zack De La Garza struck out three and allowed just a single hit over two innings in relief, while Trent Rousseau was tagged with the loss.

The Rattlers (14-19, 7-5) will head to Austin, Texas next week for a three-game series against St. Edward's. The series gets underway with Wednesday's doubleheader, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Lucian Hamilton Field.
