Aguilar, Gillean nearly hit for cycle as Rattlers fly past Jets

WICHITA, Kansas — A five-run fourth inning helped the St. Mary's Rattlers defeat the Newman Jets, 14-6, Thursday night at McCarthy Field.
 
Led by Jacob Aguilar and James Gillean, the Rattlers posted 14 runs on 20 hits in the ballgame. Aguilar collected four hits with four RBI, a home run and two runs scored. He fell a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
 
The lone Rattler to get a triple was Gillean who also produced four hits with two runs scored as he fell a home run shy of the cycle.
 
Zach Johnson would homer in the fourth inning, as he would finish 2-for-5 at the plate while Jack Kaiser would end the game 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBI, two runs scored and two doubles.
 
Holden Grounds improved to 6-4 on the season after tossing six complete innings in which he struck out six batters.
 
The Rattlers and Jets will conclude their three-game series with a doubleheader tomorrow starting at noon.
