Baseball derailed by Javelinas on the road

KINGSVILLE, Texas — Nolan Ryan Field was the scene for Thursday night's game between St. Mary's and the Texas A&M-Kingsville, with the Rattlers falling 12-3 to the Javelinas.
 
Despite jumping out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning, the Rattlers could not withstand the Javelinas' scoring onslaught as they were outscored 12-1 for the remainder of the game.
 
James Gillean posted a pair of hits in the ballgame while a Beau Barnes notched a single with an RBI. Jacob Aguilar went 1-for-3 with a run scored as Bryce Brandl and Oscar Betancourt each crossed the plate for the other two Rattler runs.
 
Starting pitcher Holden Grounds dropped to 3-4 on the season despite striking out eight in six innings pitched.
 
The Rattlers and Javelinas will meet again on Friday for a doubleheader at Dickson Stadium starting at 4 p.m.
