Baseball drops series opener to #16 LCU

LUBBOCK, Texas — St. Mary's Baseball dropped its first Heartland Conference game of the season in an 11-1 loss to No. 16 Lubbock Christian in Friday's series opener. 

The Chaparrals (19-8) jumped on the Rattlers (12-12, 6-1) early, taking a 6-0 lead after the first inning. 

The Snakes never recovered, only tacking on a late run on an RBI double from Donnie Perez. Perez was 2 for 3 with an RBI in the game. Rattler ace Holden Grounds was hung with the loss. 

The series will conclude with Saturday's doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m. in Lubbock.
