@StMUsoftball bounces back with shutout of Lady Chaps

LUBBOCK, Texas — After splitting yesterday's doubleheader, it was fitting that St. Mary's and Lubbock Christian battled in a close series finale on Saturday afternoon, with the Rattlers defeating the Lady Chaps 2-0.
 
The Rattlers were led by a complete game four-hit shutout from pitcher Jorden Russell who picked up her ninth win of the season.
 
Carrying the load offensively were Kristal Salinas and Alena Moreno who accounted for a combined six total hits.
 
In the third, Salinas began the inning with a leadoff home run to left field. She would add on a pair of doubles to finish the game 3-for-3 at the plate.
 
Three batters later, Moreno would connect on an RBI-double for the final run of the game.
 
St. Mary's will return home on March 14 to host Our Lady of the Lake at 2 p.m. at the Softball Stadium.
