Rattler win-streak snapped in Lubbock

By Brian Magloyoan | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

LUBBOCK, Texas — Entering play on Saturday, the St. Mary's Rattlers sought to make it 2-for-2 against the defending national champions, Lubbock Christian, after having defeated the Lady Chaps at Bill Greehey Arena earlier in the season.

Things didn't go the Rattlers' way however as they fell 70-56 inside the Rip Griffin Center.

A big game from Arysia Porter was not enough as only five Rattlers would find the scoring column. Porter would finish with a team-high 20 points to go along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Reigning National Player of the Week, Kiara Etheridge was held to a modest 13 points and five boards in the loss while LaBraile Fields logged 16 points in 39 minutes of action.

Throughout the game, the Rattler offense was held in check as they shot a dismal 35 percent from the field for the entire contest.

St. Mary's will look to regroup as it preps for its final two-game homestand of the season, beginning on Thursday when Oklahoma Christian visits the Alamo City.
