Rattlers bounce back, run-rule Arkansas Tech

SAN ANTONIO — Just about everything went right for St. Mary's bats Saturday. 

The Rattlers roared to a 17-7, run-rule victory over the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys, avenging Friday's season-opening loss at Dickson Stadium. They'll play the rubber match at noon Sunday. 

St. Mary's (1-1) belted 15 hits and drew 10 walks in a game that broke open thanks to a seven-run second inning. Trailing 8-2 after two innings, Arkansas Tech (1-1) never was able to pose a serious threat as the Rattlers continued to add more runs the rest of the way.

First baseman Jack Kaiser went 3 for 4 with three RBI and four runs scored, while shortstop Bryan Ramirez also scored four runs after drawing four of the Rattlers' 10 walks. Left fielder Donnie Perez continued his hot start to the season, adding another double — his third of the season — in a 3-for-5 outing that included three RBI and two runs scored. 

Jacob Aguilar added two RBI on a 2-for-3 day, while Beau Barnes had two hits in the game. Oscar Betancourt scored three times and added an RBI.     

Nick Garcia picked up the victory after going 3 1/3 innings in relief. He struck out four and allowed only two hits.
