#10 Women's Tennis cruises past Laredo Community College

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Women's Tennis outlasted Laredo Community College — plus the cold, dreary weather — to pick up its second victory of the young season.

The Rattlers, ranked No. 10 in the nation, defeated LCC 8-1 at the Rohrbach Stadium Tennis Complex, wrapping up just before the campus was hit by brief showers Friday afternoon.

St. Mary's doubles teams won by a combined score of 24-1, with Kaylin Kruseman/Tyra Timm at No. 1 and Ally Maciel/Hannah Petersen at No. 2 each winning 8-0. At No. 3, Camille Clausse-Pujo/Mariela Sarinana also won, defeating Mendoza/Penaloza 8-1.

Clausse-Pujo later suffered a setback in No. 1 singles, falling to Morruffo 6-1, 6-2. But the Rattlers picked back up from there, sweeping the remainder of the five singles matches.

Maciel at No. 2 (6-3, 6-1), Kruseman at No. 3 (6-0, 6-2), Timm at No. 4 (6-1, 6-0), Sarinana at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0) and Sindhi Ravula at No. 6 (6-1, 6-1) all won with relative ease.

The Rattlers (2-0) will return to action Thursday when they host Northeastern State at 3 p.m. at the Rohrbach Stadium Tennis Complex.
