HOUSTON — The final game of the Houston Winter Invitational saw the St. Mary's Rattlers fall to the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas, 14-4, Sunday evening.

After trailing 2-0 after the top of the first, the Rattlers would respond with two runs in the bottom frame. The final Rattler run in the inning would come when Donnie Perez grounded to short, resulting in Beau Barnes crossing the plate.

That would be as close as the Rattlers would get as the Javelinas would strike for five in the top of the second.

Bryan Ramirez and Bryce Brandl each finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. Brandl, along with Perez would register a double each. Third baseman Jacob Aguilar would go 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of singles.

Chris Jones picked up the loss after allowing seven runs, four earned, in two innings of work. Nick Garcia had an impressive outing in relief as he tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

The Rattlers will return home on Feb. 22 when they host Angelo State in a non conference affair at Dickson Stadium.
