Rattler comeback falls short in season opener

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — St. Mary's Women's Basketball opened the 2017-2018 season at the Tarleton State University Classic on Friday afternoon against regional-foe, Texas Woman's, falling 69-62.
 
Led by the all-around play of Arysia Porter and the sharpshooting of Sierra Dixon and Kealani Marquez, the Rattlers stayed within striking distance of the Pioneers throughout.
 
Porter posted 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Dixon and Marquez each poured in 15 points while draining a combined seven three-pointers.
 
Freshman Hannah Wilson impressed in her debut, recording a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
 
The Rattlers will close out the tournament tomorrow when they face host Tarleton State at 5 p.m.
