Back-and-forth frenzy with TAMIU ends with tie for Rattlers

By Brian Magloyoan | St. Mary's Athletics Communications

SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's battled to a 2-2 tie with the Texas A&M International Dustdevils on Saturday at Sigma Beta Chi Field.

Trailing 1-0 at the half, the Rattlers were spearheaded with goals from Alexia Maldonado and Roxy Cruz Santory.

Less than a minute into the second half, Maldonado netted her second goal of the season with a shot from a difficult angle on the right side of the box.

Minutes later, Cruz Santory converted on a penalty kick that would give the Rattlers the one-goal advantage. The lead would be erased when the Dustdevils produced an equalizer of their own late in the match.

The draw keeps the Rattlers undefeated at home this season (4-0-1).

Thursday, the Rattlers will travel to Oklahoma City to face Oklahoma Christian at 7 p.m.
