Rattlers fall to conference-leading Patriots

SAN ANTONIO — The final weekend of the season began with the Rattlers falling to the DBU Patriots, 3-0 at Sigma Beta Chi Field on Thursday night, as the Patriots clinched the No. 1 seed in the Heartland Conference.
 
St. Mary's held tough in the first half, despite being outshot by the opposition 10-2 in the opening half.
 
Alexia Maldonado led the Rattlers in shots with two while Heather Dawson placed her lone shot on goal. Goalkeepers Caitlin McCarrell and Erin Longford would go on to combine for six saves in the match.
 
On Saturday, the Rattlers will close out the season at home against St. Edward's in a Battle of the Saints with kickoff slated for 1 p.m.
