Wild finish ends with Rattlers falling to Jets

SAN ANTONIO — A penalty kick in the 81st minute was the difference in a back-and-forth affair between the St. Mary's Rattlers and the Newman Jets on Thursday night at Sigma Beta Chi Field as the Rattlers fell 3-2.
 
St. Mary's battled back from an early deficit with two unanswered goals from Roxy Cruz Santory and Rachel Gurinsky.
 
In the 75th minute, the Jets responded with an equalizer off a corner kick. Several minutes later, a yellow card was assessed to goalkeeper Erin Longford that set up the game winning penalty-kick.
 
Saturday the Rattlers will recognize the seniors on the team with a Senior Day ceremony at halftime of the match against Rogers State. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Sigma Beta Chi Field.
