Hilltoppers top #21 Rattlers

AUSTIN, Texas — St. Edward's remains the only unbeaten in the Heartland Conference after upsetting No. 21-ranked St. Mary's Women's Basketball, 82-65, Thursday evening. 

Kiara Etheridge's 20 points weren't enough for the Rattlers (11-3, 3-1), who fell out of a first-place tie with the Hilltoppers (8-5, 4-0) as a result of the loss. 

St. Edward's carried a 38-27 lead into halftime that it would not relinquish over the final 20 minutes on a night four Hilltoppers finished in double figures. 

St. Mary's shot 41.4 percent from the floor and connected on five 3-pointers — but their offensive efficiency was outdone by St. Edward's, which shot 51.6 percent from the floor and connected on nine 3-point shots. 

Ciaira Briseno scored 12 for St. Mary's, while LaBraile Fields added nine. 

The Rattlers will return to action Saturday, when they travel to Oklahoma City to face the Oklahoma Christian Eagles at 1 p.m.
