SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's Men's Basketball outscored Dallas Baptist by 17 in the second half in Monday's stirring 69-65 come-from-behind victory.

The Rattlers, down by as many as 16 in the first half, went ahead for good on Yanni Wetzell's layup with 1:33 remaining. Skyler Brooks added insurance on a jumper with 44 ticks remaining, while Will Ferguson's free throw with 12 seconds left iced the victory.

Wetzell scored a game-high 23 points and added seven rebounds, while Brooks and Freddie Williams added 12 points apiece.

After shooting 31 percent from the floor in the first half, the Rattlers (4-9, 2-2) shot 68 percent in the second half, connecting on 19 of 28 shots. Meanwhile, their defense locked down on the Patriots (7-5, 2-1), limiting DBU to 11-of-26 shooting over the final 20 minutes.

The victory marked the second in a row for St. Mary's, and vaulted the Rattlers into a tie for fifth place in the Heartland Conference standings after opening the season 0-2 in league play.

DBU outrebounded the Rattlers 35-29, but St. Mary's won the turnover battle 13-9. The Rattlers also logged assists on 16 of their 28 baskets.

St. Mary's will head to Austin, Texas on Thursday for a "Battle of the Saints" showdown against St. Edward's. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
