SAN ANTONIO — St. Mary's faced a tough regional foe when it hosted Midwestern State on Monday night at Bill Greehey Arena.

Despite a slow start, the Rattlers managed to control the pace of the contest, enroute to a 61-54 victory. Will Ferguson led all Rattlers with 14 points while Robbie Benavides and Yanni Wetzell poured in eight points respectively.

Wetzell, who was named Heartland Conference Player of the Week earlier in the day, also added seven rebounds and two assists in the effort.

Freddie Williams contributed nine points and five rebounds in 33 minutes of action on the floor.

In what was their third game in five nights, the Rattlers received a lift from their bench which outscored MSU's reserves 18-6.

Dimitri Peterson produced a well-rounded game off the bench with seven points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

The win moves the Rattlers to 8-11 overall as they get set to resume Heartland Conference play on Thursday when they visit UA Fort Smith.
