Chaps come back to edge @StMUvolleyball

LUBBOCK, Texas — Shelley Chapron's career-high 17 kills were not enough Thursday evening as St. Mary's Volleyball fell to Lubbock Christian, 3-2. 

The Chaps (7-6, 2-1) overcame an early 2-1 deficit to defeat St. Mary's (8-7, 2-2) 25-18, 19-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-12 at the Rip Griffin Center. 

Setter Bree Perry, the Heartland Conference Setter of the Week, hit the 50-assist plateau for the fourth consecutive match, leading the Rattlers with 50 assists against the Chaps. It marked the fifth time this season she recorded 50-plus assists. Amanda Lake led the Rattlers with 25 digs. 

Chapron hit .324 to go along with her 17 kills, while Channing Hankins also hit double-digit kills with 10. But the Chaps outperformed the Rattlers offensively as a whole, out-hitting the Snakes .190-.148.  

St. Mary's will be right back in action Friday, taking on Oklahoma Panhandle State at 7 p.m. in Goodwell, Oklahoma.
